Welcome budget minded folks! If you are looking to get the health benefits from a standing desk but are not ready to spend a few hundred dollars on premium brands, I think you will like this list of best standing desk converter under $200.

Other than pricing under $200, when I compiled this list, I made sure that these brands have received a great amount of positive reviews and significantly low on the negative ones.

Obviously, you cannot expect perfection with such a low price but at the minimum you will get the functionality and ultimately the health benefits from standing, which should be your main goal.

At the time this list was written, all items are under $200. However, I predict that some of them will go above $200 in the near future due to rising demand and popularity.

I know that low price is your number one priority but there are a few other things that you need to know or understand when considering a budget standing desk converter.

1. Existing Chair’s Adjustment

Are you able to sit comfortably in your current chair with an ergonomic elbow angle? When you sit straight, your knee and elbow angle need to be at 90 degrees or more. 

At the collapsed position, a desk riser will add at least one inch to your existing desk. Therefore, you will most likely need to adjust your chair up a little bit to accommodate your new sitting position and ensure your feet remain flat to the floor. 

So make sure this is not going to be an issue for you.

 

2. Monitor Fit

If you plan to use 1 monitor only, you will have no issues selecting any desk converters. However, if you know you are going to use 2 monitors, you are better off getting a converter with at least 35” width.

Anything smaller than 35”, you probably need to tilt both monitors toward you more. What if you want to use 3 monitors? Fortunately, you can mount a monitor arm that can hold a few monitors.

You just need to make sure that the total weight will not exceed the loading capacity. The average weight capacity for a desk converter is about 35 lbs.

 

3. Current Desk Measurement

It goes without saying that you need to measure your existing desk (width, depth, height) regardless of the reasons you are buying a standing desk converter. Many people often overlook the depth of their desk and end up having an over-sized converter. 

Another thing related to your current desk that you need to be aware of is the shape of it. If you sit in a cube and you must place your desk in the corner, a rectangular converter will leave a lot of empty space at the back.

4. Your Height Level

I never thought I would see a standing desk converter under $100 yet here it is. SHW standing desk converter comes in 32” or 36” width size and selection of colors. The price for the 36” is extremely affordable too.

One main thing that I want to point out to you is that the keyboard tray size is below average. If you use a regular keyboard size, you will not have a space for your mouse. Therefore, if a smaller keyboard is not an option for you, you will need to put your mouse on the desktop surface near the edge. 

This may be acceptable when you stand but when you sit, you will need to place your mouse on your existing desk so that you will not lift up your hand constantly just to hold your mouse.

Other than that, the other features are pretty much the same as other budget friendly brands. The desk surprisingly has received hundreds of positive reviews. I think a lot of people are very impressed with the quality and the price point. 

Here are those features that you will be pleased with:

• Pneumatic cylinder. You can easily adjust your desk straight up and down with 2 levers.
• Continuous height setting. You can raise the desk anywhere up to 16”. However, it may not be high enough for a tall person. If you are 6” or taller, you seriously need to consider getting a monitor arm.
• Media slot. You can place your phone or tablet in front of you while working so that you can stay connected. 
• X-shaped design. You can expect a sturdy desk when you type or write.

There used to be only a handful of brands that supply desk converters to the market and their prices were above what most people are willing to pay. Some of these established brands actually still set their price above competition because of their reputation and trustworthiness.
