I think you would agree with me that it has become more and more common for someone to work with multiple monitors at their workplace. Some people use 3 or more monitors at once but the majority of them utilize 2 monitors. For this reason, I have reviewed and compiled a list of the best standing desk converters for two monitors currently in the market.

I separated this list into two sections depending on your monitor size. The first one is 17” – 24” and the second one is 25” – 32+”. Most people use the former size because it saves space and is sufficient for what they use them for. 

My criteria to select the best standing desk converter for 17” – 24” monitor size is that the width need to be at least 35” and weight capacity at 33 lbs or more. For 25” – 32+” monitor size, the width of the desk riser must be at least 41” and weight capacity at 35 lbs or more.

The ideal way to save as much space and be ergonomic as possible is to install a monitor arm on your desktop. However, in most cases, you will need to buy that separately. If you are not sure what a monitor arm is, here is an example for you.

Keep in mind that it is not necessary to use a monitor arm especially if your existing monitors’ base can give you the right viewing angle and height for your eyes, neck, and shoulder.

There are few main things you need to know before buying a standing desk converter for multiple monitors:

1. Monitor Size

I know this is an obvious point but some of you may not know how to measure a monitor screen correctly. The right way to measure your screen size is to measure your monitor diagonally excluding the monitor frame.

So what is next? To make sure that you can fit all your monitors on the converter, I suggest that you measure them too. Simply place your monitors side by side and then measure their bases from outside left all the way to the outside right. 

After that you need to compare the result with the width of the work surface from the desk converter you are looking to buy. It’s ok and normal for your monitor screens to go over the side of the converter a little bit. 

 

2. Monitor Weight

In general the bigger the size of your monitors, the heavier they will be. If you plan to put other things as well, such as your laptop, tablet, or perhaps some documents, you can exceed the weight capacity of your desk riser.

If your monitors are 24” or smaller, you should not have any weight problem. However, if you have bigger monitors, such as two heavy 32” monitors, you should find out their total weight. You will find it more challenging to raise a manual standing desk converter at their max capacity. 

If you own heavy monitors or if you have chronic back pain that hinders you from putting any weight at all for your back, you should seriously consider getting an electric standing desk converter. A typical electric desk riser can support 50 lbs or more.

 

3. Your Height Level and Existing Desk Measurement/Shape

These are general things that I keep mentioning for someone who is looking to get a standing desk converter. If you are 6’ or taller, you want to be more selective in your criteria. It is best to get a desk riser that can reach at least 19”.

If you are reading this, you know that you are buying a desk that you are going to place on top of your existing desk. Therefore, it is best to get measurement of your current desk particularly its depth. Otherwise, you might end up with an oversized converter.

You should also be aware of the shape of your current desk and how it’s positioned. For example, if you are going to be at the corner, you should consider getting a corner standing desk to save you as much space as possible.
